Archive for December, 2015
It’s the last few days before Christmas, so here’s everything you need to know if you want to order labels before or during the Christmas holidays.
Last Orders Please
We will be processing and despatching orders up until 3pm on Wednesday 23rd December (production will be running today and Wednesday).
Our last orders will be despatched on Wednesday evening; all orders will be despatched via Royal Mail’s first class service as standard UNLESS upgraded to a guaranteed next day delivery option (shipping cost: £5.75), which is available to request by phone.
Please note that Royal Mail’s last recommended post date for First Class post is today (Monday 21st December) and anything ordered after this time is HIGHLY UNLIKELY to arrive in time for Christmas.
New Year’s Name Labels
Any orders placed after 3pm on Wednesday and those placed over the Christmas Holidays will be processed upon our return on Monday 4th January, with production running at three working days for despatch.
Getting In Touch With Us
While we will be closed for the Christmas Holidays, you can still send us an email if there is anything you need to query or discuss with us in the New Year. We will endeavour to respond to all correspondence as soon as we can, once our offices re-open on Monday 4th January.
There are only a few days left to order name labels in time for Christmas, which means that you might be thinking about requesting a special delivery service to make sure that your labels absolutely positively make it in time for the holidays.
We offer a guaranteed next working day shipping option for just £5.75 (UK only); to request this upgraded shipping service all you need to do is get in touch! Simply give us a call to place an order and upgrade to next day delivery. If you’ve just placed an order and realised that you’d rather upgrade, please give us a call with your order number/postcode to hand and we can upgrade the shipping for you.
If you don’t wish to upgrade to a next day delivery service your name labels will be despatched via Royal Mail’s first class service as standard. However, we would remind customers that this is NOT a guaranteed service – during standard operating conditions around 93% of first class mail arrives the next day, but with the Christmas rush in full swing, it is much more likely that items sent on this service will be delayed.
Please note that we will close for the Christmas Holidays on Wednesday 23rd December, and will re-open on Monday 4th January.
Orders will be accepted up to 3pm on Wednesday; any orders placed after this time and over the Christmas Holidays will be processed upon our return.
While many people will be focused on the festivity and fun of the Christmas holidays, others will be concerned with a friend or relative who is moving into a care home this winter.
Moving into a residential or nursing home is a big change for all involved and can be quite a stressful experience. While name labels might not be at the top of your list of things to think about, they are a small purchase that can prove to be a big help in making sure that things go as smoothly as possible.
Care homes make extensive use of shared facilities and spaces; from the kitchens and laundries to the gardens and common rooms, the staff and residents (and their visitors) will be using and living in shared spaces, which means that it is entirely possible that clothing, bedding, and personal items may become mixed up or even go missing entirely.
When moving into care, having their own belongings around them can be a great source of comfort to residents, which can make it all the more distressing if these items go missing. This can also cause great stress for their friends and families, and can take up a great deal of time and effort on the part of the staff, who end up wasting their valuable time hunting down missing items, instead of spending time with their residents.
Here at Label Planet, we offer two kinds of name labels that can be of assistance in a care home environment:
STIKINS ® name labels: a smooth, flexible vinyl material with an extremely strong adhesive; these stick on name labels simply peel off their backing sheet and can be applied to both clothing and bedding (apply to the wash care label only) and to any personal items that a resident wishes to keep with them (for example, books and photo albums).
TRONS ® name transfers: these iron-on labels bond and fuse into fabrics to create a permanent name label on any fabric item, including clothing and bedding.
While residents or friends and relatives of residents can order name labels themselves, we are also happy to deal with nursing and residential care homes directly – we will offer a 10% discount to homes who order directly from us on behalf of their residents.
Planning A Trip Away For Christmas? Add A Name Label To Make Sure Everything Makes It There And Back Again.Tuesday, December 8th, 2015
While many people will be spending Christmas at home, there are plenty of people who will be planning trips away for the holidays, whether it’s a trip back to the family home, a festive flight to a Winter Wonderland, or an extravagant escape to a warm, sandy beach somewhere far, far away.
Name labels are a quick and easy way to label up your luggage to make sure that everything makes it there and back again.
Our Trons ® name transfers are the perfect way to label any fabric item; these labels work in the same way as transfers used to apply designs to clothing and will bond and fuse with the material of an item to form a completely permanent name label.
Meanwhile, if you’ve got clothing AND plenty of personal bits and bobs to get labelled up, our Stikins ® name labels are a multipurpose name label that simply sticks on and stays on. Whether you need to label up equipment for outdoor activities, camping gear, or bits and pieces to keep the kids entertained, these versatile labels can be applied to all kinds of surfaces to make sure that everything gets labelled safely and quickly to ensure that everything makes it back home when your trip is over.
Top tip: if you’re labelling bits and pieces for a family holiday, why not consider entering the family surname on one line (or even Family Surname) and a piece of contact information (such as a phone number) on the other line so that you can use one set of labels to get everyone’s stuff labelled up in one go.
Christmas inevitably means more: more people, more stuff, more chaos!
Whether it’s at home, at work, at school, or even pretty much any public place you can think of, there are crowds of people getting ready for the Christmas holidays, buying all of the bits and pieces they need for their Christmas celebrations, preparing for seasonal sales and events, or simply enjoying some well-earned time off.
And, of course, all of that chaos means that there are a lot of people with a lot of belongings moving about very quickly in small spaces, which makes it extremely easy for those items to go missing.
Name labels are a brilliantly simple way to help protect against items going missing, especially in very busy shared environments. Here at Label Planet we supply two types of name label products:
STIKINS ® name labels: this multipurpose name label simply sticks on and stays on, whether you need to label clothing, shoes and bags, or a whole range of personal possessions. In clothing, these labels should be applied to the wash care label and will survive repeat trips through both the washing machine and a tumble drier.
TRONS ® name transfers: this iron-on name transfer uses the same methodology and materials used by the clothing industry to apply designs to clothing; the transfer fuses and bonds with the material being labelled to create a completely permanent name label on any fabric item.
Remember, name labels can be used to label all kinds of items belonging to every member of your family; here’s our guide to ways that a simple name label can help bring some calm to the chaos of Christmas.
Labels at home: while Christmas might be a time of Winter Wonderlands, it’s also a time of hats, scarves, gloves, coats, and shoes all piled in together – not to mention visits to and from family and friends and trips here, there, and everywhere, which provide all sorts of opportunities for those Winter Warmers to go walkabout.
Labels in schools: most schools will spend December running through a gauntlet of festive activities, including Christmas concerts, trips, and the traditional Christmas play (be it Panto, Nativity, or something else altogether) – all of which means classrooms, cloakrooms, and every spare inch of storage space will be crammed full of costumes, musical instruments and related paraphernalia, sheet music and scripts, spare outfits and changes of clothes, as well as all kinds of props. It’s incredibly easy for things to go missing in such a chaotic environment and name labels are an extremely easy way for parents to make sure their children’s belongings make it home safely and for teachers and members of staff to try to keep track of school property as it is carted about from place to place.
Labels in nursing/residential care homes: whether you have a friend or a relative moving into a care facility this winter or they have already taken up residence, name labels are a quick and easy way to add some extra peace of mind. Nursing and residential care homes make use of shared spaces; from shared kitchens and laundry facilities to communal rooms and gardens for residents (and their visitors) to relax and interact. All of which means that clothing, bedding, and personal items (which are often of significant emotional value) can get mixed up or go missing – adding a name label is the perfect way to make it simple for staff to ensure that the correct items are returned to the correct resident, which saves them time and prevents emotional distress for the residents (and their friends and family).
It is finally the 1st of December, which means that it is officially completely okay to talk about Christmas!!!
While name labels might not seem like an all-important item that absolutely MUST be delivered in time for Christmas, we know that some of our customers will need to receive their order in time for the holidays. Some might want to be ready for the next school term (whether it’s labels for a few new bits and pieces or a full set of school uniform and equipment for a new start at a new school), others might be buying labels on behalf of relatives living abroad (to be handed over during a Christmas get together), or perhaps an order is for a friend or relative who is moving into a nursing or residential care home during the holidays and their belongings need to be safely labelled in time for the move.
It is a simple fact of life that more and more items are being delivered around Christmas time and delays are now an unfortunate inevitability, which is why we would encourage our customers to avoid the rush by placing their orders as early as possible – especially if it is important that they arrive in time for Christmas. We also advise customers with a deadline to consider upgrading to a guaranteed next day delivery service (shipping cost £5.75).
