Get Stuck In With Tips From Stikins ® Name Labels

Our name labels were designed with active kids in mind, so we’ve made them super tough and super durable to make sure that they’ll stay stuck all year round. Here’s a few top tips to make sure that your labels really do just stick on and stay on.

Applying Name Labels – Stick To The Instructions For Use

As with any product, the secret to success is often found by simply following the instructions. Every set of Stikins ® name labels comes with full instructions for use. These are printed onto the back of each pack and are listed on the Instructions For Use page of our website.

We wrote these instructions to help every customer get the very best performance from their name labels – and they’re based on our knowledge of our product and our customers' experiences. These instructions allow us to give you our guarantee that your name labels will stay stuck. If you choose not to follow them (or even to read them at all) we cannot guarantee that your labels will be successful.

Labelling Clothing, School Uniform, & Fabric Items

  1. Ensure the item is completely dry.
  2. Carefully peel a label from the backing paper, trying to avoid touching the adhesive.
  3. Apply the label onto the wash-care instruction label of the garment.
  4. Use your thumb to firmly smooth down the label.

Labelling Shoes

  1. Carefully peel a label from the backing paper, trying to avoid touching the adhesive.
  2. Stick the label under the tongue of the shoe or on the inside wall, not under the heel.
  3. Use your thumb to firmly smooth down the label.

Labelling All Other Items

  1. Ensure that the item is completely dry.
  2. Carefully peel the label from the backing paper, trying to avoid touching the adhesive, and apply the label to the item.
  3. Use your thumb to firmly smooth down the label.

Applying Name Labels – Top Tips For Successful Sticking

In addition to following our instructions for use, we recommend following these top tips to ensure that your sticky name labels really do just stick on and stay on – and that you get the very best performance out of your name labels.

  • Do not wash labelled items for 24 hours; this allows the adhesive to strengthen and set.
  • Do not apply Stikins ® labels directly onto the fabric of clothing, school uniform, and fabric items; we cannot test every material blend and composition, which means that we cannot guarantee that your name labels will work – although they will work perfectly well on some materials.
  • Do not be tempted to test the adhesive bond after washing items by tugging at the corners – this could lead to a breakdown of the adhesive and cause your labels to fall off.
  • Do not apply Stikins ® labels directly beneath the heel in footwear; friction generated during movement will cause the print to wear away quickly.
  • Wash (and dry) brand new clothing, school uniform, and fabric items before applying your name labels. Some of these items may have traces of dust, excess dye, or chemicals used to preserve such items during storage and distribution, which can interfere with the adhesive bond.
  • Store your labels in their original packaging in a location that is dry and out of directly sunlight – preferably with a consistent room temperature.
