Celebrating Percy Jackson & The Mythic Names Of Ancient Greece & Rome

Today is the birthday of Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series of books based on Greek & Roman mythology. So we’re celebrating names from Greco-Roman mythology. Plus, we take look back at the origins of Stikins® name labels.

The Mythology Of Stikins® Name Labels

Stikins® were created by David Worgan, owner and director of Label Planet Ltd. As a father of four, he was dismayed by the impractical name labels on offer. Although there were various options available, they all proved too expensive, too time consuming, or too short-lived. So, he decided to use his experience in the labelling industry to create a new product that would be much simpler for busy parents.

After six months of research and testing, the original version of Stikins® labels were launched in 2004. Named for their ability to simply “stick in and stay in”, each set contained H-shaped clothes labels and shoe labels with a strong adhesive to hold them in place.

We have continued to research and develop new materials and manufacturing methods to make sure that our name labels continue to live up to their name.

The current version of Stikins® is made with a super soft, flexible material and a unique adhesive. The adhesive forms super strong bonds with a range of materials, which means your labels will stay put on all kinds of items. This includes school uniforms, clothing, lunch boxes and water bottles, P.E. kits, stationery, and other personal belongings. The bright white material is dirt resistant and we print each label with a bold black font. This classic combination makes your labels super clear and easy to read for children of all ages. At just 30mm x 15mm, they fit neatly and discretely onto items of all shapes and sizes. They also have plenty of room for a name and a piece of additional information, such as a phone number, room number, or friendly message.
