Stikins ® Information
Save time & money with one multipurpose name label for clothes, shoes, lunch boxes, & all school items.
Launched in 2010, these stick on name labels simply stick in and stay in – with absolutely no sewing and no ironing needed!
Stikins ® can stick onto the wash-care label of clothing and fabric items, and can also be used on personal items, including shoes and bags, lunch boxes and water bottles, school equipment, and phones and tablets.
Successfully tested by an independent laboratory using the BS EN ISO6330 wash test procedure for 30 washes at 40 degrees, Stikins ® name labels can be put through washing machines and tumble driers, as well as microwaves and dishwashers.
Stikins ® are a thoroughly modern name label that provides a quick and easy alternative to traditional sew-in or iron-on name labels, which require endless hours of sewing and ironing to get school uniform labelled.
With a simple one-step application process, Stikins ® name labels provide parents with a multipurpose name label solution that will get ALL of their children’s belongings safely and securely labelled in minutes, saving them plenty of time to get on with the more important things in life.
Developed using the latest manufacturing processes and materials, Stikins ® were launched way back in 2004, with updated and improved versions launching in 2010 and 2013; our latest addition is silver name labels (which can be used to label personal items), which launched in the summer of 2015.
Stikins ® have been designed to be as quick and simple to use as possible; they simply stick in and stay in so parents can label dozens of items quickly and easily, with no fuss, no mess, and not an iron or sewing needle in sight!
The advanced materials used to make our name labels will allow them to survive the natural wear and tear of everyday life as well as repeat trips through the washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, and microwave.
Ideal for busy parents who want to make sure that all of their children’s belongings make it safely to school and back again, these simple name labels can save parents a lot of time and money. They’re also ideal for use on the clothing and personal items of people who are moving (or have moved) into a residential care home or nursing facility, where they help to bring a bit of extra peace of mind and security to what can be a stressful change.
Stikins ® name labels are made with an incredibly advanced vinyl material, which is extremely soft and pliable; this means our name labels are perfectly suited to labelling all kinds of flat and curved surfaces (including flexible wash-care labels) AND that they are gentle against the skin when they are applied into clothing.
The smooth, glossy finish and curved edges of our vinyl name labels mean that they won’t cause any irritation or discomfort even when they are applied onto the wash-care label at the neck of garments, where they may frequently brush against skin, which means they will go completely unnoticed – until they are needed, of course!
The adhesive used to make our name labels is a specially developed adhesive that has been designed to create a bond that will hold your name labels firmly and securely in place under all sorts of conditions. Created with the stresses and strains of everyday life in mind, this strong and resilient adhesive can withstand both the rough and tumble of day to day life and repeat trips through the washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, microwave, or sink.
Stikins ® have been successfully tested by an independent laboratory using the BS EN ISO6330 wash test procedure for 30 washes at 40 degrees but, more importantly, they’ve also been successfully and very thoroughly tested by thousands of families across the country, who have bought and used our name labels, day after day, over and over again, for over twelve years!
To get the best possible result from the adhesive, we recommend applying your Stikins ® to the wash-care label in clothing, which is where the labels were placed during independent testing. While they may work just as well when placed directly onto fabrics, there are so many different combinations and blends of materials that are used to make clothing that we cannot test them all, which means we cannot guarantee that they will work if they are stuck directly onto clothing and fabric items.
You should also make sure that your items are clean and dry before you apply your name labels and leave them for 24 hours before washing them so that the adhesive can fully strengthen and set in place. We also recommend washing brand new items of clothing so that any traces of excess dye or chemical preservatives (which can interfere with the adhesive) will be washed away before you apply your Stikins ®.
While our products have been thoroughly tested to ensure that they will withstand a normal cycle of washing and drying clothing, you should take care to avoid using large amounts of highly concentrated cleaning products on your labelled items (follow the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines to determine how much you need to use for the quantity of clothing you are washing and the hardness of water in your area). When ironing labelled items, avoid direct contact between your iron and your name labels as the heat will cause the vinyl material to melt.
All of our name labels are printed with a bold, black font to make sure that your name or information is as easy to read as possible against the white or silver background. You can use any alphanumeric characters (letters in upper case or lower case, and numbers), as well as punctuation marks, and the following European accented characters:
[À Á Â Ä Ã Å à á â ä â å Æ æ Ç ç Ð ð À Á Â Ä Ã Å à á â ä â å Æ æ Ç ç Ð ð Ñ ñ Ô Ö Õ Ø ò ó ô ö õ ø ß Ù Ú Û Ü ù ú û ü Ý Ÿ ý ÿ]
Please note that we cannot print any images, icons, or emoticons onto our name labels so please do not include these in your order.
The font size is determined by how many characters you include on your labels; our system counts up the number of characters you have requested and then selects the biggest possible font size that will allow all of those characters to fit onto your name labels. This means that, to get the best possible font size, you should keep things short and sweet (for example, we CAN print up to 30-35 characters on a line but we would advise against using more than 20-25 at most).
Most of our customers request a first name on the top line (line one) and a surname on the bottom line (line two) but you can choose to add whatever text you like. For example, other popular requests include a surname (line one) and a phone number (line two), medical and allergy information, school information (school name or class name), or a simple message (such as “This belongs to” or “Please return to”).
Back in 2013, we found that a range of name label products on the market were struggling to cope with exposure to some sun creams and lotions, which contained certain ingredients that caused the print to disintegrate. We sourced a brand new ink to use to print our name labels, which is completely resistant to market leading children’s sun creams and lotions so that your Stikins ® will remain firmly in place, clear and legible, all year round.
Name labels should be completely invisible until you need them, which is why we’ve chosen a small size that will fit neatly and unobtrusively onto the wash-care label of clothing or onto personal items – each of our Stikins ® name labels measures a neat and tidy 30mm wide by 15mm high; perfect for all kinds of items, including clothing, P.E. kits and equipment, shoes and bags, stationery, and any other absolute essentials that you want to make sure are safely and securely labelled.
