Get Organised For The Summer Term With An Easter Order Of Stikins ® Name Labels

Friday, April 7th, 2017

With schools closed (or about to close) for the Easter Break, it’s the perfect time to do a quick review of your children’s school uniform and equipment and to make an order for a few extra name labels to make sure that everything stays safe through to the end of the school year.

Here at Label Planet, we make and despatch name labels same day every day, so even if you need to make a last minute order for an emergency top up you can rest assured that your labels will be on their way to you just as fast as a (n Easter) bunny!

Any order we receive before 3pm Monday to Friday will be made and sent out by Royal Mail’s first class service on that same day – with orders received after 3pm or over the weekend being despatched on the next working day.

We will be shutting down for a brief Easter break ourselves, with our office closing at 5pm on Thursday 13th April and re-opening on Monday 24th April. Any orders placed during this time will be made and despatched when we return. If you have any questions or queries during this break, please send us an email and we’ll reply as soon as we can once we’re back.

Stikins ® are a simple solution to the problem of labelling school uniform and equipment and were developed with busy families in mind; these name labels simply stick on and stay on so you can get your children’s things labelled up in minutes, saving you time to spend your Easter break doing things that are a lot more fun!

You can order Stikins ® by phone or by post OR you can simply visit www.stikins.co.uk to place an order online today!

We’d also like to say “keep watching” our blog as we’ve got some pretty big news to share in the next couple of weeks that we’re pretty excited about!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day To One & All!

Friday, March 17th, 2017

Yes, today is Saint Patrick’s Day, and celebrations are taking place all around the world in honour of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland.

Did You Know:

  • March 17th is the Feast Day of Saint Patrick because it is the traditional date given for his death.
  • Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, Nigeria, and Montserrat, as well as engineers and paralegals – he is also invoked for protection against snakes, sins, and witchcraft.
  • Saint Patrick adopted the name Patrick (or “Patricius” in its original Latin form); his real birth name is unknown, although “Maewyn Succat” is commonly used.
  • While he is the patron saint of Ireland, he was actually born in Roman Britain – locations in both Wales and Scotland have claimed to be his actual place of birth.
  • Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations involve a LOT of green because green is traditionally used as the national colour of Ireland BUT Saint Patrick is also associated with blue and “Saint Patrick’s Blue” is used as the official colour of state, featuring on the Irish coat of arms and the presidential standard of the President of Ireland. Blue is also used as an official colour by a variety of Irish universities, sports teams, and military units.
  • The shamrock is associated with Saint Patrick’s Day because a traditional story claims that Saint Patrick used the three leaves of the shamrock to explain the Christian Holy Trinity – it has since become associated with Ireland and is often used as one of the traditional symbols of Ireland. The shamrock itself is a type of clover – although there remains some dispute as to whether or not the shamrock is a specific variety of clover (with Trifolium dubium (lesser trefoil) and Trifolium repens (white clover) being the two varieties most commonly considered to be shamrocks).

Simply visit our website, enter the details of the pack(s) you would like to order, and select “NON UK” as your billing address when you check out (alternatively, if you are using a UK billing address, simply fill out your UK address and then tick the box to add a different shipping address).

Happy Middle Name Pride Day!

Friday, March 10th, 2017

You might not know it but today is “Middle Name Pride Day” – a day for taking all of those middle names that are usually hidden away on forms and official bits of paperwork and bringing them out into the daylight for a big old celebration!

Middle names are often used for “special” names, for example, to honour family members and relatives, to celebrate important things in a family’s life (such as important places, months, or ideals), or simply to have some fun with a slightly “out there” name – that can be used or hidden away depending on whether or not the child finds the name exceptionally good or exceptionally embarrassing later in life.

For most people, their middle name is actually a big part of what makes them “unique” – while you might share your first name with a lot of people, the combination of your first name and middle name can feel much more uniquely “you”.

So, we’ve taken a look at our past orders to have a bit of an investigation into the middle names chosen by our customers…

For girls, the runaway success has to be “Rose”, which was our most popular middle name by far – followed (at a slight distance) by “May/Mae/Mai”. For boys, “J names” proved most popular, with “James” and “John” taking the two top spots.

While traditional names were the most popular choices for middle names, we also found that plenty of parents had decided to get a bit more creative with their middle names, with inspiration coming from all kinds of sources, including animals, nature, myths and legends, and a few pop culture icons as well. Some of our favourites include:

Artemis, Astrid, Belle, Blue, Bluebell, Clover, Cruz, Fox, Harper, Hunter, Star, Storm, Tinkerbell, Valentine, Xena, Wren, Zen, Zephyr, Zigi.

While we don’t get to see all of the middle names that our customers have chosen, we do get a fair amount of initials, and we found a few surprises in our order history:

  • “J” is the most popular letter by far, followed by “A”, “M”, “E”, “L”, and “R”.
  • Least popular is “U”, which had a very unfortunate year in 2016 and appeared in absolutely no orders as a middle initial, followed by “Q”, “Y”, “X”, and “V”, while “Z” proved to be our most popular “unpopular” letter.
  • Girls were most likely to have middle names starting with “R” or “M”, while boys were most likely to have “J” or “A”.
  • While “Q”, “U”, “X”, and “Y” names were all as equally (unpopular) with our customers for boys and girls, “Z” and “C” names had equal popularity.
  • The biggest gaps were between the letters “G”, “I”, and “M” (which were much more popular for girls than boys) and “D”, “H”, and “W” (which were much more popular for boys than girls).

Did You Know: we run a Fundraising Scheme for schools, PTAs, and other activity/youth groups and clubs to allow them to raise money by earning commission on sales of Stikins ® name labels. Schools and groups can earn up to 30% commission on orders of name labels, which they can then put towards any ongoing fundraising goals and projects. There’s no membership fee to pay and no ongoing costs; simply fill in our one-stop registration form to start fundraising all year round!

We’ve just given our Fundraising pages a bit of a makeover to make them even better and easier to use. To take a look and find out more, simply head on over to our Fundraising Home Page today!

If you have any questions or queries about ordering name labels from Label Planet – whether you’ve ordered over the winter break or you’d like to place an order now – please get in touch with our Customer Service Team for assistance. FAQ Special – All The Answers You Could Need For Questions & Queries About Despatch & Delivery!

Monday, November 21st, 2016

If you’ve got any questions about our despatch and delivery service then this is the blog post for you!

DESPATCH:
When will my labels be despatched?
We print name labels every day so ALL orders we receive by 3pm, Monday-Friday, will be made and despatched the same day. If you order after 3pm or over the weekend, your order will be despatched on the next working day.

How will my labels be despatched?
Each pack of name labels is individually packed and then put into a C5 (A5) envelope along with a re-order form and a receipt; all of our orders are sent out via Royal Mail’s first class service as standard.

DELIVERY:
How long will it take for my labels to be delivered?
Royal Mail state that they AIM to deliver first class post on the next (working) day but they DO NOT GUARANTEE this and it can take a few extra days for orders to be delivered – particularly if you are in London or an outlying area of the UK.

Do I have to be at home to accept delivery?
Our envelopes will easily fit through a standard letter box so you don’t necessarily need to be at home to accept delivery; HOWEVER, we do put larger orders with a value of over £35 onto the Royal Mail’s signed for service, which will mean that these orders require a signature upon delivery – and will be taken to your local post office if you are out. If you choose an upgraded delivery option, your order will also require a signature upon delivery.

You can always nominate a different delivery address (such as your work address) to ensure that someone will be available to accept delivery of your order if you wish. Simply fill in your billing address and then check the option to enter a different address as your shipping address.

How much does delivery cost?
Our standard UK delivery is included in the prices you see on our website (which also include VAT!); you won’t have to pay extra for shipping unless you choose to upgrade to a special delivery option or want your labels to be delivered to a non-UK address (see below).

Do you offer upgraded delivery?
Yes! You can opt to upgrade to a guaranteed next (working) day delivery option if you absolutely positively need to receive your name labels in plenty of time for an upcoming deadline (such as the start of new school term or a big residential trip).

This service costs £5.75 and can be requested by contacting our Customer Service Team on 01270 668076.

Can I request delivery outside of the UK?
We do accept orders for a limited number of non-UK countries; shipping costs £1.50 per pack and will be automatically added to your order total as you checkout. To enter a non-UK address, you can either select the NON-UK Address option as you checkout (if your billing and shipping addresses are both non-UK addresses) or you can select the UK Address option if your billing address is in the UK and then use the checkbox to add a non-UK delivery address.

Currently, you can request delivery to the following countries via our website:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Channel Islands, Corsica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey

If your country isn’t listed here, you may wish to try our sister company, Madebuy, who sell genuine Label Planet products via Amazon and eBay and offer shipping to a larger number of destinations worldwide.

What should I do if my order doesn’t arrive?
GET IN TOUCH WITH US!

We despatch all of our name label orders on the same or next working day, which means they should arrive with you within a few days. As their first class service is NOT a guaranteed service, we allow the Royal Mail FIVE working days to deliver items, so if your labels have not arrived after a week, please get in touch with us as soon as you can.

If you are ordering items to a non-UK address, please note that delivery will take a little longer; we use Royal Mail’s International Standard service, which they aim to deliver to “Western European” countries in 3-5 working days and to “Rest of the World” countries in 5-7 working days.

To avoid delivery delays, we highly recommend taking a moment when you order to double check ALL of the details that you have entered – including your delivery address – to make sure that your name labels arrive safely (and are printed correctly).

Hopefully, this FAQ special has answered all of your questions and queries about our despatch and delivery service BUT if we haven’t answered your issue, please get in touch with our Customer Service Team. You can find a full list of contact information on our “Contact Us” page and we’ll be happy to help with any questions or queries about despatch and delivery or to get your order upgraded to our special delivery service.

Schools & PTAs – Your Commission Cheques Are On Their Way!

Tuesday, November 1st, 2016

We’ve finished totting up our totals and commission cheques are making their way to our wonderful partners who have participated in our fundraising scheme during this, our TWELFTH (and best ever!), year.

We’ve had a brilliant response from our partners, including those who have been members of our scheme for years as well as all of our lovely newcomers who have joined us over the last twelve months.

Your commission cheque is based on orders that we received between 1st October 2015 and 30th September 2016 where your unique fundraising number was quoted and will be awarded at either our basic rate of 15% (for schools, nurseries, and PTAs who have registered as members of our fundraising scheme) or our boosted rate of 30% (for members who have added a link to their website).

We hope that you are happy with your commission total and that your cheque will be a welcome contribution to whatever fundraising projects and goals you are striving to achieve.

If, however, you’re disappointed with the amount that you’ve got (or that you’ve received our basic rate of commission rather than our boosted rate), we highly recommend taking a trip to the Fundraising Section of our website and taking a look at our Fundraising Guide and, in particular, our Booster Plan.

Our Booster Plan was created based on our own experiences of running a commission scheme as well as feedback from existing partners and provides schools and PTAs with a list of simple (and free!) things that they can do to boost the amount of commission they earn. For example:

  • Add a link to your school or PTA website and boost your commission rate to 30%
  • Request free parent leaflets to hand out to parents to make them aware of the scheme
  • Request free posters to put up around the school

Visit our Booster Plan page to find out how you can improve on this year’s commission earnings, use our Linking Information page to find out how to add a link to your website (or let us know that you’ve added a link), take a look through our “Really Useful Downloads” page, or visit our School Requests page to order free Parent Leaflets.

We will be despatching all of our commission cheques THIS WEEK, so if you DON’T receive your commission cheque within the next few weeks, please GET IN TOUCH with us as soon as you can to let us know.

Free Easy Fundraising With Stikins Name Labels From Label Planet

Friday, October 21st, 2016

We’ve reached that time of year once more where we start pulling together our records to set up this year’s batch of commission cheques to send out to our existing fundraising partners.

If you aren’t already a member of our fundraising scheme, you might be curious about how our scheme works and how it benefits schools and PTAs – which makes this the ideal blog post for you!

EASY Fundraising
Here’s how it works:
1) You REGISTER with us by filling in our one-step registration form online or calling our Customer Service Team.
2) We allocate a unique FUNDRAISING NUMBER to your school or PTA (or nursery or sports club or group etc).
3) Any order we receive where that fundraising number is quoted will count towards your commission total and we will keep track of your commission earnings and send out a commission cheque once a year in October.

And that’s it! You don’t need to re-register every year and you don’t need to set aside time and resources to participate. It’s entirely up to you how much time and effort you put into the scheme – if you like, you can simply register and then forget all about it, although this won’t result in a very big cheque at the end of the commission year. As with everything, the more you put in, the more you get out – which is why we’ve put together a Fundraising Guide and Booster Plan to provide you with a simple list of small, quick, and free things that you can do to make a big difference to your commission total.

FREE Fundraising
There is no fee to join our commission scheme and no ongoing costs to participate. We provide all of our partners with a variety of completely FREE resources that can be used to let parents know about the scheme (and the fundraising number they need to quote) to help them boost the amount of commission they earn, including:

  • Free Fundraising Pack (includes samples of our labels & leaflets and a copy of our Fundraising Guide & Booster Plan)
  • Free Parent Leaflets
  • Free Poster
  • Example Letters To Parents
  • Free Samples For Your Pupils/Members (May, June, & September only)

EFFECTIVE Fundraising
All you have to do is make sure that parents know how to order (and what fundraising number to quote) to earn up to 30% commission – the highest name labels commission rate in the UK. We handle everything else – from processing and despatching orders to keeping track of and paying out your commission each year. Our scheme gives you access to fundraising that just works; parents can order from us anytime all year round and your commission will automatically accrue over the commission year. You may even find yourself with some extra time and resources on your hands as more students arrive on school property with their belongings clearly and securely labelled – reducing the mountain of Lost Property that you have to handle.

If you would like to find out more our commission scheme, please click on the purple “Fundraising” button on our website to take a look through all of our Fundraising pages and resources. To register, click on the “Fundraising” button and select “School Requests” to use our online registration form OR contact our Customer Service Team to register by phone.

Half Term Is Nearly Here But Never Fear; We’ve Got Name Labels For ALL Your Kids’ Gear!

Wednesday, October 19th, 2016

Yes, the first half term of the school year is almost already over and we’re hurtling with ever increasing speed towards Christmas, which means that it’s a good time to slow down and take stock of your children’s pile of school uniform and equipment to see if you need to make a half term (top up) order of name labels to see you through the next few weeks (and, hopefully, beyond!).

You might already be a name label convert who simply needs to stock up their stash, has been handed a new list of required uniform and/or equipment for the next half term, has found a few items that somehow escaped your September labelling session, or perhaps you need to replace a few items that have (somehow) already been outgrown or damaged beyond repair (in some apparently inexplicable manner). Alternatively, you might be someone who hasn’t tried name labels yet but wants to give them a go after a disastrous half term of things going missing.

Here at Label Planet, we despatch all of our name label orders on the same day (Monday to Friday, up to 3pm) so you can rest assured that your name labels will be on their way to you in no time at all – and you can get everything labelled in a flash and then get on with making the most of your half term holiday.

You can place an order online anytime or give us a call (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm); our Stikins ® name labels are the perfect name label solution for busy families who have a lot of stuff but not a lot of time to spend labelling it all. Our multipurpose name labels simply stick on and stay on – and you can label clothing and fabric items (apply your labels to the wash-care label only) or onto a whole range of personal items and school kit, including bags and shoes (do not apply your labels beneath the heel of the foot), books and stationery kits, P.E. equipment, arts and music supplies, and phones and tablets.

Visit our website now to place a quick and easy online order or contact our Customer Service Team to place an order by phone.

FAQ – How Do I Order Stikins ® & Trons ®?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2016

We try to make our name labels as convenient as possible in as many ways as possible so busy parents and families can get their stuff labelled quickly and easily and then get on with the more important things in life – and we’ve applied this to our ordering process as well.

You can choose to order online, by phone, or by post – so you can choose the method that is most convenient for you:

Online:
Visit our website (www.stikins.co.uk) and get started by visiting our Stikins ® name labels product page or our Trons ® name transfers product page. Simply follow the instructions on the relevant product page to select the product/pack size you prefer and enter the text you would like printing on your labels. Enter your billing/delivery information and then choose to make payment by credit/debit card or via your PayPal account.

By Phone:
Call our customer service team (01270 668076) and let us know what products/pack sizes you would like to order, the text you would like printing, and what your delivery address is – payment can be made by credit/debit card.

By Post:
We also have a parent leaflet, which includes a postal order form. These leaflets are included with each order we send out, are distributed to parents by schools and nurseries who have joined our commission scheme, and you can also download a copy from our website. Simply write out the details of the products/pack sizes you would like to order, the text you would like printing, and your delivery address and post the order form to us along with a cheque for payment.
