Happy #takeyourdogtoworkday From Label Planet (& Harvey The Stikins ® Dog)

Friday, June 23rd, 2017

Today is officially Take Your Dog To Work Day – although we would argue that EVERY day should be take your dog to work day – so we thought we’d dedicate today’s post to our very own office dog, Harvey!

Harvey has been the Label Planet office dog for years and received an early promotion in 2010 when he was made the official mascot for Stikins ® name labels. His biggest (and perhaps only) challenge to date was to – very patiently – sit through an extra rigorous grooming session in preparation for a photo shoot to promote a new version of our flagship product (as seen in this truly professional portrait):

He has his own “desk” in the office in the form of a big brown rug, although he is invariably more likely to be found lying anywhere else (in particular, anywhere else that just so happens to be in the way) and has a particular fondness for spending his afternoons sunbathing by the front door.

Did You Know: our multipurpose Stikins ® name labels can be used to label pretty much anything and everything, so why not use some of your Stikins ® to get your pets just as organised as your kids! You can label food tins, storage containers, water bowls, and leads – although please note that we wouldn’t recommend labelling anything that your dog will (try to) put in its mouth (e.g. toys).

Our easy to use name labels simply peel off their backing sheet and can be applied onto clothing (where they should be applied onto the wash-care label) or onto personal items that you want to keep securely labelled. You can order printed Stikins ® or – if you want a more flexible approach – you can order our Stikins ® Name Label Kit, which contains sixty blank name labels and a pen so you can personalise each label however you like!

We’re Celebrating WORLD WILDLIFE DAY With Baby Names That Take A Walk On The Wild Side!

Friday, March 3rd, 2017

Today is World Wildlife Day – a day dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of the world’s wildlife. Each year, World Wildlife Day is given a theme and this year the theme is “Listen to the young voices”.

With this in mind, we thought we’d take a look at the names that we’ve printed over the last year and celebrate the young voices with names inspired by nature – (especially as the closest thing to wildlife here in our office is a rather alarming number of potted plants and Harvey the Stikins ® Dog who isn’t so much wild as extremely mild.)

For boys, the most popular wildlife-inspired names are based on five animals – Lions, Bears, Dogs, Wolves – and Doves!

While the most popular group is lion-based names (including Leo, Leon, and Lionel), the single most popular name is actually Callum – which is a Gaelic name meaning “Dove” – while the sixth most popular name is another dove-inspired name: Jonah.

Our third and fourth most popular groups are names that mean “Bear” (including “Arthur” and “Orson”) and “Dog” (represented by “Caleb” and its variant “Kaleb”), while our fifth most popular group (the wolves) has the most variations – including names as diverse as Channing, Conan, Lyall, Lycan, Rudy, and Wolfram.

For girls, inspiration comes from Sheep, Antelope, Birds, and Lions.

The first group includes both “Una” (which means “Lamb”) and the most popular wildlife-themed name “Rachel” (meaning “Ewe”). The second group includes “Tabitha”, which you might be inclined to think of as a name associated with cats although it’s actually an Aramaic name meaning “Gazelle”.

Birds are represented by the names “Paloma” meaning “Dove” and “Merle” meaning “Blackbird” (along with “Robin” and “Wren”), while the lion is represented by feminine versions of “Leo” such as “Leona” and “Leonie”.

Animals are also a popular inspiration for nicknames; amongst our customers, “Bear” and “Teddy” are the most popular animal-based nicknames for boys, while girls are most likely to have cat-inspired nicknames, such as “Cat” and “Kitty” – although we also love the “big cat” nickname chosen by one of our customers: “Tiger”.

(We’re also very fond of the nickname “Wolfie”!)

We hope you take some time this weekend to celebrate the wonderful (and sometimes weird) wildlife that we live with on our planet; whether you go big and take a trip to a zoo, garden centre, aquarium, or wildlife park to learn more about the world around us or you stay a little closer to home and just spend some time giving your pets (or your garden’s wildlife) a little extra TLC.

Remember, you can request ANY name when you buy name labels from Label Planet – whether you want to stick to a simple First Name & Surname format or you prefer to include a personal nickname – and  you can use our multipurpose Stikins ® name labels to label pretty much ANYTHING (including any walking boots and equipment you use to spend more time in the great outdoors or even labelling those all-important boxes of pet treats so there won’t be any arguments – or unfortunate mix ups!)

Get Well Soon To Harvey The STIKINS ® Dog!

Thursday, May 15th, 2014

Followers of our blog or fans of our facebook page may be familiar with the fact that STIKINS ® name labels have their very own mascot in the shape of our office dog Harvey, a lovable Labradoodle with a heart of gold.

This week he’s recovering from a minor trip to the vets and we’re wishing him all the best in his recovery (and sneaking get well soon biscuits in his direction!).

Despite having stitches and a rather large Buster Collar, Harvey is still overseeing the office and production of our STIKINS ® name labels from his very own “desk” (even if he is bouncing off the walls and the furniture a little more than usually thanks to his collar).

You can read more about Harvey on our blog, right here.

The STIKINS ® Dog

Friday, August 10th, 2012

We have been asked why we have a picture of a dog as the profile picture on our STIKINS ® Facebook Page.

Well, Harvey is the Label Planet dog; a huge, friendly and highly clever Labradoodle. He travels to our office every morning and has his own desk (actually a big rug) in our admin area.

Every day he is taken out for a walk of about an hour and a half when he swims and plays with his ball and other dogs. In the afternoon he will usually be found sprawling across the office floor (a clever tactic for getting people to stop and pay him some attention!).

He also gives all of our visitors a big friendly welcome.

Harvey The STIKINS ® Dog: Super Fit

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Harvey the STIKINS ® name labels dog has been training every day since September and is now a super fit labradoodle. He has daily walks from the Label Planet Office where he has his own “desk” (actually a rug).

Now 5 years old, Harvey is extremely wise, and a Pudsey fan, and an important member of the Label Planet Team.

Harvey: Name Labels Dog Photo Shoot Experience

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

Earlier today, following an early start for grooming, Harvey, the star of the Label Planet STIKINS ® publicity campaign, visited a studio for his photo shoot.
With his typical enthusiasm he wore us all out as we tried to get the right photograph. In the end he got bored playing with us and sat down, looked straight at the camera, and posed!!!

Pictures of the name labels dog will be on press wire next Wednesday and on the www.stikins.co.uk site later this week.

Many thanks to Simon J. Newbury Photographers of Nantwich.

Company Dog To Star In Name Labels Advertising

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

A decision was made today at Label Planet that the company dog, Harvey, will be the main star of a publicity campaign due to start in August.

Harvey is a fantastic looking 3 year old brown Labradoodle and his first official job in the company will be to publicise the New STIKINS ® name labels.

A clipping and shampooing session will be followed by a photo shoot next week.

Harvey hopes to give Lassie and the Dulux dog serious competition, and to help spread the word about Label Planet’s superb new name label product.

David
