It’s Grand Slam Time at the Stikins® Name Tags Office!

Friday, January 26th, 2018

As the Australian Open is moving into its final weekend, we thought we’d celebrate the first grand slam of the year with a showdown between the most popular names in the UK and the most popular names in Australia! As you can imagine, we create name tags for a wide range of names all year round, we do however come across several usual suspects! To keep our study *supremely scientific* though, we’ve taken a look at the top 100 names given to children born in 2016 (the latest set of data for both the UK and Australia) to see how the countries compare – at least when it comes to choosing names!

* i.e. not remotely scientific at all

Ordering name tags from Stikins®

While we don’t ship name tags to Australia, we do have a number of customers from a variety of different countries (including Australia!) who order name tags from us. We are more than happy for non-UK customers to order from us with a nominated UK address; for example, you can nominate the address of friends or relatives living in the UK, who will be able to forward your sticky name tags onto you OR hand them over the next time you meet up. Alternatively, you may be able to order from our sister company (Madebuy), who supply school name tags via Amazon and who are able to ship internationally.

We offer TWO UK delivery options when you order Stikins® stick on tags from Label Planet:

STANDARD DELIVERY: our standard delivery service is Royal Mail’s first class service and is free of charge. Around 93% of first class mail arrives the next day, with the remainder taking a day or two extra (particularly in the London area).

SPECIAL DELIVERY: next day delivery is via Royal Mail’s Special Delivery Guaranteed service; this guarantees that your stick on name labels will be delivered by 1pm on the next day and costs £5.75.

This option is ideal if you need your sticky name tags to arrive in plenty of time before an important date – for example, if you need to order name tags for school trips or tags for a friend or relative who is moving into a nursing home or residential care facility.

If you are ordering name stickers on a FRIDAY and need to receive them over the weekend, we also offer Royal Mail’s Saturday Delivery Guaranteed service, which costs £8.75.

Currently our Special Delivery options are ONLY available to request by phone (call us on 01270 668076, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm), which allows us to ensure that your name tags will be printed and posted same day for next day delivery.

So, whether you have a very unusual name or a name which has proven to be very popular in recent years, the team here at Stikins® can provide you with truly unique name tags when you need them most! Discover Digital Names for a Digital Age with Stikins® Name Labels

Friday, January 19th, 2018

Did you know that today marks the 35th anniversary of the “Apple Lisa”, a personal computer developed by Apple during the 1970s and 1980s? This got us thinking about how computers have sometimes been named after people – and how, nowadays, some people are named after computers!

Names inspired by the digital age…

Over the years, new forms of technology and digital devices have been given “human” names. Some are named for friends/relatives/colleagues (like Lisa– Steve Job’s daughter – and the Watson supercomputer – named after IBM’s first CEO), some are inspired by fictional characters (like Phoebe – a personal computer named after the Friends character – and Simon– a computer named for the “Simple Simon” nursery rhyme), and others have been named in honour of technology pioneers (like Ada and Pascal – programming languages named for Ada Lovelace and Blaise Pascal respectively).

Today, some parents are turning to the digital world for inspiration; while some opt for more subtle nods to their favourite tech (as seen in the rise of names like Alexa and Siri), others have gone all out – with names including Like, Hashtag, Google, Facebook and Vista. In fact, a tech-loving family have even decided to adopt the phrase “2.0” in place of the traditional suffix “Junior”!

Whether you’re a technology fanatic or you simply want a name with a futuristic feel, there’s plenty of inspiration to be found in the digital world:

Cortana Dell Echo Evi Linux Lumia Luna Lynx
Mac Mycroft Pearl Pepper Pixel Ruby Tag Viv

Modern Name Labels for a Modern Age

Stikins ® name labels were designed to be a modern labelling solution for modern families; in other words, they were designed to fit into the lifestyle of busy families with a minimum amount of muss and fuss!

Modern Name Labels

Our sticky name labels are made with an incredibly advanced adhesive that allows them to simply stick on and stay on – with absolutely no need for sewing or ironing. The strong adhesive means that they are multipurpose school name labels that can be used on virtually any surface, from uniforms, bags and shoes, to general purpose objects such as lunch boxes, water bottles, books, stationery, and all those “essentials” that children refuse to go without!

Our name tags measure 30mm wide by 15mm high and are white stick on labels printed with a bold black font – this means that they’re a discrete addition to any item which is also really easy to read (especially in the rush and tumble of the school environment).

Our name labels have been independently tested using the ISO6330 wash test procedure for 40 washes at 40 degrees so they’re perfect as school uniform labels (where they need to survive a LOT of trips through the washing machine).

FAQ – What text can I request on my name labels?

When you order Stikins ® name labels, it is entirely up to you as to what you have printed on each name tag; you can request a full name, short name, or nickname – along with any other information or personalisation that you wish to include. Some customers opt to include a phone number or a medical or allergy alert, whilst others choose to include a friendly message such as “This Belongs To” or “Please Return To”). The ONLY limits that we have are:

  • We can only print alphanumeric characters (0-9, A-Z, a-z), basic punctuation marks, and the following accented characters:
    À Á Â Ä Ã Å Æ à á â ä â å æ È É Ê Ë è é ê ë Í Î Ï ì í î ï Ô Ö Õ ò ó ô ö õ Ù Ú Û Ü ù ú û ü Ç ç Ñ ñ Ý Ÿ ý ÿ Ø ø Ð ð ß ƒ
  • We cannot print emojis, although you can use punctuation marks to create your own emojis on your sticky name labels!
  • Please also note that the font size does reduce as you add more text. Stikins ® name labels are designed to be neat and discrete and are therefore made in ONE SIZE only (30mm wide by 15mm high). While you can fit up to about 30-35 characters on each line, we recommend using NO MORE than 15-20 to ensure that your text remains clear and legible.

To order name labels for school, nursing homes, or general purpose labelling, please fill in our handy order form online. You can also contact us directly to place your order. We are open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm and a member of our team will be more than happy to help!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year from the Stikins ® Team!

Happy New Year - Stikins Name Labels

Well, it is officially 2018 and we are back in the Stikins ® office ready for another year of creating sticky name tags and school fundraising!

We hope you had a brilliant time celebrating the new year with friends and family (and we hope that one or two of you have made a New Year’s Resolution to buy more name tags in 2018!).

Are you waiting for your name tags?

We’re busy working our way through all of the orders we received for our stick on name tags over the Christmas break and we hope to be all caught by today or tomorrow. We’ll also be making a start on replying to any emails we received during the holidays – although we do always prioritise making and despatching orders of our name tags for clothes and personal items, so please bear with us as we catch up.

If you ordered name tags for school or clothing before Christmas AND received a despatch confirmation email but haven’t received your order yet, they may have been caught up in the Christmas rush. If you haven’t received anything by the end of the week, please contact our Customer Service Team so we can assist you further.

If you ordered name tags for school or clothing before Christmas but didn’t receive a despatch confirmation email then your order will be in our “To Do” pile; we’re aiming to meet our usual despatch targets of despatching all orders same or next day – and hopefully all of our Christmas name tags AND new orders will be made and posted out by the end of play tomorrow.

Find out more about our name tags today!

If you have any questions or queries about Stikins ® name tags or you need some assistance placing an order (or tracking an order you placed before Christmas), please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Customer Service Team, we are available to help Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
