Answers To Your FAQs About The Names On Stikins ® Name Labels

If you’re interested in ordering Stikins ® name labels this year but aren’t sure what to include on your sticky name tags, take a look through the following FAQs that we’ve received about the names that we print onto Stikins ® name labels.

What Colour The Print Will Be Used On My Name Labels?

All of our name labels are white stickers printed with a bold black font. This combination is the clearest and makes it super easy to read the information on each sticker.

How Big Will The Font Be On My Name Labels?

The font size is determined by how many characters you include on each line. Our system counts up the number of characters you have requested on each line and then automatically selects the largest possible font size that will allow all of those characters to fit onto your name labels. This means that the more characters you enter, the smaller your font size will be.

How Much Text Can I Include On My Name Labels?

We recommend a maximum of 15-20 characters per line to get the best possible font size; however, if you wish, you can add up to 22 characters, although this does dramatically reduce the font size that will be used on your name labels.

You also have a choice of two layouts; you can request one line or two lines of text. If you are requesting a short amount of text (for example, a short name such as Alex Owens), you could use a one line layout – generally speaking, if you only need to use 12 characters or fewer, we would advise using the one line layout. Any more than this and we would advise using the default layout of two lines. The two line layout is also ideal if you would like to include two pieces of information (e.g. a name and phone number – see below).

What Information Should I Include On My Name Labels?

Most of our customers request a name only – usually in the form of a first name and a surname. However, the choice is entirely up to you. You can request names in any form, including first names, middle names, surnames, and nicknames (and any combination of these). You can also include additional information; common choices include contact information (e.g. a phone number), school information (e.g. school name / class or year group name), medical information (e.g. allergies or medical conditions), and friendly messages (e.g. “I Belong To” / “Please Return To” / “If Lost Contact”).

If you wish to include additional information, we recommend using no more than TWO pieces of information in total (e.g. a name and phone number) to ensure that your name labels are printed in a decent font size. For example, we would not recommend requesting a name and TWO phone numbers or using longer pieces of contact information such as long email addresses and/or home addresses.

Can I Include Accents / Emoji / Characters From Other Alphabets?

Our system can only print alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and standard punctuation marks from the English alphabet, along with the following accented characters:

À Á Â Ä Ã Å Æ à á â ä â å æ È É Ê Ë è é ê ë Í Î Ï ì í î ï Ô Ö Õ ò ó ô ö õ Ù Ú Û Ü ù ú û ü Ç ç Ñ ñ Ý Ÿ ý ÿ Ø ø Ð ð ß ƒ

This means that, unfortunately, we cannot print characters from other alphabets, nor can we print images such as emoji onto your labels. You can, of course, get a bit creative with your punctuation to create friendly images of your own.

Can I Leave A Line Blank So I Can Write In More Information Later?

Yes! To leave a line blank, use the space bar on your keyboard to enter a couple of blank spaces. This will indicate to our system that you want that line to be left blank. Please note that if you do wish to write onto your name labels (especially those being used as clothes labels), you will need to use a suitable laundry pen to ensure that your information doesn’t wash away.
